Fast fashion items are low quality and/or of limited durability that are mass produced in order to be ready for sale before a "micro-trend" is over. However, at Exceptio we understand the importance of quality and our socks are made to last; combining functionality with contemporary trends in either classic or innovative styles, we take pride in delivering a fit for purpose, ethically manufactured product.

Our sustainability practices continue from beginning to end of our manufacturing process and include all packing elements, as our sealing tape, shipping cartons, and per pair packaging options all use FSC approved materials and are either recycled, recyclable or biodegradable.

Sustainability has come to the forefront of many industries, and it's no secret that fashion causes a lot of pollution and wasted yarns: from brands disposing of their unsold stock by shredding and dumping, to toxic pollutants entering our rivers. To combat this, we have eco-friendly options available such as Hydrocycled upcycled cotton and RPET Polyester. By using these materials in our socks, it allows fabrics and plastic to be diverted from landfills and oceans and reduces the need for virgin materials.

In the UK, manufacturing is one of the most energy intensive sectors. At Exceptio we look to minimise environmental impact with more than 20%, on average, of our energy demands, across our UK and Portuguese factories, being supplied by solar panels. And, to reduce energy consumption further, our knitting machines are the latest state-of-the-art Green certified models, running more efficiently with more accurate production, which in turn produces less waste.
